Kiln log: the spring firing that almost failed

· Hands · Clay · Patience

Cone six, a stubborn cold spot in the back corner, and a glaze that pinholed on three mugs. I'm writing it all down because the failures teach faster than the wins — and next time I'll load the shelves looser.

I make stoneware in a small studio: mugs that fit the hand, bowls that stack, a few pieces that only exist to test a glaze. This site is where I keep process notes, kiln logs, and the occasional batch that's ready to leave the shelf. Making is slow on purpose — I'd rather finish six honest pots than forty rushed ones.

Studio notes on ceramics, slow making, and things built by hand. I tend to return to the same subjects more than once; the second pass is always slower, and better.
